I wanted for a long time to have a space where we could share with you our thoughts, ideas, and insights of the Karen hill tribe culture, so, I hope this blog will help us to connect and will bring you closer to the Thai Hill Tribe people and their wonderful silver jewelry known as ” Hill Tribe Silver “

In my first post, I will like to present our team, the human beings behind the computers, the artisans behind the creativity, the Karen hill tribe people behind the silver jewelry that we offer to the world.

Our Home is in Chiang Mai, in the heart of Northern Thailand, just a 2 1/2 hours drive from the Burmese Border.

So, everything starts with our Family and goes all the way to the Karen villages outside Chiang Mai and the workshops of our Hill tribe silversmiths who brings to life, handmade, one by one, the silver beads and silver jewelry we offer at our websites.

Many of you already know me, I’m Sergio, the guy you have talked to at ThailandHandicrafts.com and for those who do not know me YET, here is your chance to meet me.
I’m the only non Thai person in our family and team, but I live in this beautiful Country for almost half of my life. I love Thailand, this is my home.

Here is also, Mai, my loved Thai wife, you have not met her, but she is the one who binds us together, she makes sure that your jewelry gets done and that your silver pieces looks adorable.
She’s also the one who creates and beading the entire collections of ready-made Hill Tribe silver jewelry, necklaces and Bracelets on display at our websites. She’s pure Creativity !!

Mai, she’s an amazing beautiful person, the best wife a man could ever dream and I love her very much. Besides being a mother of 3 kids, she works full time at ThailandHandicrafts.com, what a woman !!! , what a gift !!!

Then, here are Maya, Lina and Johnny, our Kids, the most precious in our lifes.
Maya and Lina, besides being great students, also do their part at ThailandHandicrafts.com, often modeling for our websites home pages and jewelry presentation. Johnny, still a young boy, but he’s becoming a computer expert and pretty soon, he will be taking over all of us.

So, that’s our family, the CEOs of ThailandHandicrafts.com

Then come our web design team, the programmers, graphic designers, photo artists, the processing, and administration staff. We are a small team but highly devoted.

Every single member at our company, from the CEOs to the Hill Tribe Silversmiths, works happy with dignity and gets a fair share of the business you give to us.

We love what we do and we synchronize together to offer you a way to purchase your Hill tribe silver directly from The Karen Hill Tribe villages and by doing so, YOU and US, we provide for the well being of the many Karen Hill Tribe families that works with us

Remember , you are the most important part of this great project !!

Let’s be Frank, The Karen hill tribe villages are very poor.
The Karen people are simple, pure and innocent, never complicated as we have become, the fellows in the city. Karen homes are extremely modest, with just basic utilities. Some homes still lack clean drinking water, and forget about a hot shower in winter.
Diseases and malaria are also common in some areas.

Despite all that hardship, take a look at the beautiful expression of creativity that comes out in the Hill Tribe silver jewelry work !!!.

Remember, YOU and US, we can help !!!!

BY PROMOTING the Hill tribe silver jewelry around the world you are helping to the betterment of life of the Karen Hill Tribe People. You are bringing food to their tables, clothing and warm to their homes. You are giving them jobs and helping them to live with dignity. You are bringing hope to their lives !!! isn’t it heart warming ?

In my next post I will share with you more insights on the History and culture of the Thai Karen Hill Tribe and I will bring you deeper into the art of silver making they have mastered.
